The Agency was formed in April, 1982, by Gaston J. Wood and R. Lamar Wilson. Initially, the Agency was heavily involved in real estate accounts and oil and gas insurance. However, the company began to diversify and now writes a broad spectrum of insurance covering all lines, both commercial and personal.
Joe Wood is a native Texan and a 1961 graduate of North Texas State College. He holds certification from the Wharton School in Scientific Risk Management. He spent six years with Liberty Mutual in the claims department as a Multiline Supervisor. He joined the Pearlstone-Casey Agency, Inc. in January, 1970, where he was co-owner and Executive Vice President. He formed his own agency in April, 1981, which he ran as a sole proprietor until joining with Lamar Wilson in 1982. Mr. Wood retired in 2009.
Lamar Wilson is native of St. Petersburg, Florida, and a graduate of Florida State University. He moved to Dallas in 1972, and was in the commercial real estate business until joining Arthur L. Owen Insurance Agency in January, 1976. He was with the Owen Agency until the formation of Wood-Wilson Company in April, 1982. Lamar is a graduate of the Kemper and the SAFECO Commercial Insurance Schools.
Bruce Klingman was reared in Dallas and is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He represents the fourth consecutive generation of his family in the insurance business in Dallas. He spent seven years in the surplus lines insurance brokerage business before entering the agency business with Marsh, Inc. Bruce has been with Wood-Wilson since 1990 and became a partner in 2008.
The Agency has experienced steady growth since its founding in 1982. Wood-Wilson now has clients throughout the world, which includes those traveling and living abroad.
